Announcement of the Green Mileage Program

2026/6/22

For the Tokyo Marathon 2027, we invite all race participants to make a donation
through the Tokyo Marathon Foundation “Green Mileage Program.”
Please note that donations are limited to successful lottery applicants and can be selected at the time of payment for participation fees.

The Green Mileage Program is a carbon offset initiative aiming for net-zero emissions. By tracking activities like running, it helps reduce and absorb greenhouse gases (GHG) to offset the emissions that cause global warming. The initiative donates 100 yen to green conservation efforts for each mile run (approximately 1.6 km).

We are inviting donations of 2,600 yen (matching the 42.195 km / 26 miles distance) from all participants to support reforestation and environmental conservation efforts.

Further, in addition to our ongoing donations to the Mastercard Priceless Planet Coalition, Tokyo Marathon 2027 will undertake a new forest restoration initiative in Japan in collaboration with Present Tree.

The donations will be utilized for reforestation and environmental conservation efforts through the organizations listed below. (Please note that these donations are not tax-deductible.)

■Recipient Organization: Priceless Planet Coalition
Mastercard Priceless Planet Coalition is working with Conservation International and the World Resources Institute to restore 100 million trees globally by 2030, focusing on reforestation areas that provide the greatest benefits for climate change, biodiversity and local communities.
*If you donate with your Mastercard, an additional $26 will be donated by Mastercard. This means your contribution will have twice the impact. You will not be charged anything extra.

■Recipient Organization: Present Tree
Activities: The “Present Tree” project, operated by NPO Environmental Relations, was launched in January 2005 to support both forest restoration and regional revitalization.
The project plants trees in deforested, abandoned, and disaster-affected forest areas across Japan, especially in regions facing population decline and aging communities. The trees are then nurtured together with local residents over a 10-year period, helping revitalize both forests and communities.

The Tokyo Marathon is striving to create a sustainable society through the power of sports.  Along with your participation in the Tokyo Marathon 2027, your support for the Green Mileage Program would be greatly appreciated.
