Tokyo Marathon 2026: Report on Donations through the Green Mileage Program

2026/4/17

At the Tokyo Marathon 2026, we invited donations for environmental protection activities from all race participants through the “Green Mileage Program.”

This initiative involves making a donation for every mile run. For the Tokyo Marathon 2026, we collected donations covering 26 miles, equivalent to the distance of a full marathon. Domestic participants donated 100 yen per mile, totaling 2,600 yen, while international participants donated $1 per mile, totaling $26.

A total of 2,944 people (2,000 from Japan and 944 from overseas) participated in this initiative, reaching a combined total of 76,544 eligible miles.

As a result, donations from participants totaled $57,914. With an additional $37,437 contributed by Mastercard, the Official Partner, the total amount raised reached $95,351.

For every payment made with Mastercard, Mastercard matched each participant's donation of 2,600 yen (domestic) or $26 (overseas). Please note that this comes at no additional cost to the participants.

This donation is expected to lead to the restoration of approximately 47,500 trees through the activities of the Priceless Planet Coalition.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for your support and cooperation.

The Tokyo Marathon Foundation will continue to promote understanding of environmental issues through running and strive toward achieving a sustainable society.
