Similarly, the Tokyo Marathon is one of the Abbott World Marathon Majors (Abbott WMM), which represents the seven largest and most prestigious marathons in the world, further including Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York City, and Sydney. Competing in one of the Abbott WMM races is a great honor not only for elite runners, but also for the vast number of amateur runners who come to compete from around the world. Runners who complete all six races—Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York, and Tokyo—within the time limit for each race are called Six Star Finishers, and are awarded a commemorative Six Star medal. This year, runners from around the world who are aiming to become Six Star Finishers visited the AWMM booth again, deepening their connections and pledging to do their best to complete the race.
Additionally, a large number of charity runners visited the Tokyo Marathon 2026 Charity Booth, where they could be seen interacting with representatives from the organizations they support—chatting with them and taking commemorative photos together.
Over the three days it’s held, Tokyo Marathon EXPO 2026 welcomes not only runners but also the many volunteers who have come from the very first day to provide support for runner registration. This year’s VOLUNTAINER Meeting 2026 is being held at the same time as the EXPO, from Thursday, February 26 to Saturday, February 28. It offers a wealth of information and items that help make the Tokyo Marathon even more enjoyable, including banners for writing messages of support, work glove crafting, photo spots, and even a souvenir exchange area.
Additionally, this year further features the Tokyo Marathon Foundation’s sustainability initiative, Run Cycle Square. At the EXPO venue is offered a selection of experiential programs for everyone from children to adults to participate in and enjoy. These programs include collecting and purchasing used running shoes that have served their purpose, creating one-of-a-kind cheering items using recycled waste materials, crafting original Tokyo Marathon sandals using recycled shoe soles and used tires, and providing life-saving education that helps protect lives.
Running through Saturday, February 28, Tokyo Marathon EXPO 2026 is open to everyone at Tokyo Big Sight Conference Tower 1F, and offers a wide range of enjoyment for runners and visitors alike. Final entry will be on the last day of the event at 17:30, so please allow plenty of time for your visit!
