Hug & Schar sweep wheelchair races in Berlin

Marcel Hug recorded his 10th BMW BERLIN-MARATHON victory to underline his dominant position at the top of the men’s AbbottWMM leaderboard.

The Swiss champion stormed away early in the race on a warm morning in the German capital to create a gap of more than two minutes by the halfway point on a course he knows so well.

His winning time of 1:21:46 was more than six minutes ahead of long-time rival David Weir, who broke clear of Jetze Plat in the final 10 kilometers to register another podium finish in his storied career.

‍His fellow Swiss star Manuela Schär made it a double for their nation, winning in a time of 1:35:08 and plundering the eight bonus points for a 33-point haul from the race.
