How old must I be to participate?
You must have turned 19 years old by the race day for full marathon, or be between 16 and 18 years old for the 10km race.
I live in Japan and am wondering if I can apply through the English entry website?
Foreign residents that do not speak Japanese may do so, but if you are able to read Japanese, please apply through the Japanese website.
Please be aware that people who apply through the English website are considered overseas entries and are required to pay the overseas entry fee (marathon: 12,800 yen, 10km: 6,700 yen).
I am a Japanese citizen living abroad. Can I apply through the English website?
Anyone living overseas may do so.

I am stationed in Japan with the US Navy, what should I choose as my country for an address?

Can I apply for entry by phone?
We do not accept entry applications by phone or with paper applications. Please apply from a computer or smartphone. From the 2017 events onwards, you may not apply from a conventional cell phone (non-smartphone model).

Are there 10km race for able-bodied runners who are over 18 years old?
No. Please refer to the Race Information.
Aren't there any marathon race categories for participants with disabilities?
There is no distinction made for disabled participants, but entry is allowed. Any disabled participant who wishes to run the marathon but will have difficulty running alone should indicate that they will need a guide runner. (Running with a guide dog is not allowed.)
I'd like to enter in the wheelchair category. How should the athletes registered with a sports organization for the disabled apply?
There is no distinction made for the athletes registered with a sports organization for the disabled.
Those wishing to participate in the wheelchair category should apply like other participants for the marathon (general) or 10km race. Elite athlete applications open in December.
Athletes should be registered with the IPC to be qualified as elite athletes.
How do I request for a guide runner?
Guide runners are only allowed for marathon participants who are disabled and cannot complete the course on their own.
You can request for a guide runner when you send in your entry. Disabled runners whose entries have been accepted will be contacted separately in regards to the request for a guide runner.
This is my first marathon, so I do not have a best time or predicted finish time.
Only those who have participated any marathons in the past should fill in a best time. Otherwise, please leave the “best time” box blank. Please fill in your predicted time based on your running ability.
Is there any way to confirm that I have completed my entry correctly?
After you have submitted your entry, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
If I am unable to participate on the day of the marathon, may I have someone run in my place?
Substitute runners are not allowed. Anyone running under a false name will be disqualified.
I have an English name too. Which should I enter?
Please enter the name on your passport.
Can I change my personal information after submitting application?
No. Especially, modifications to the nationality and race category are strictly prohibited.
Can I switch from the 10km to the full marathon, and vice versa, after I have entered?
No changes can be made after you have submitted your entry.
What happens if the number of entries exceeds the capacity?
Participants will be chosen through a lottery if we receive more entries than are allowed. In such case, we will make an announcement on the website.
If you do conduct a lottery, when will we be informed of the results?
We will inform all applicants of the results of the lottery in late September.
Notification will be sent to the e-mail address you registered upon your application.
The notification will only be sent once, so please enter an e-mail address that you will be using until the race day and make sure not to change the e-mail address. Please be advised that we do not accept inquiries regarding lottery results either by phone or e-mail.
If my entry is accepted, by when and how should I pay the entry fee?
Please pay the entry fee using a credit card. If we cannot confirm your payment by the deadline, your entry will be cancelled.
Will last year's lottery results have any impact on this year's lottery results?
I participated as a volunteer last year. Will my application be given priority?

The total number of applicants will be announced on the website after the deadline for application.
How have you been dealing with the personal information of applicants for previous events?
To improve service and safety levels for participants, personal information may be used to deliver the Runner Handbook, records, miscellaneous information related to the event including ones provided by the sponsors and supporting organizations, race results (rankings), insurance, and medical support.
Information shall be supplied to third parties in the following cases in which;
- It is necessary to supply the information to third parties, such as related businesses and suppliers within the scope of managing this event.
- The information is required by an insurance company for the purpose of making an insurance application.
- The medical information is required for academic purposes.
- The event organizer announces race results details via TV broadcasts, newspapers, magazines, or the Internet.
Why is the entry fee for Japanese participants different?
The entry fee for overseas entries is higher due to costs incurred by translation and more.
When can I apply for accommodations?
We will send the information about accommodations along with the results of the lottery.
