Wheelchair Race Competition Rules63(2) All wheelchairs must be equipped with a functional (braking control braking system) for safety.(3) No part of the wheelchair frame shall project forward beyond the front wheel axle, and furthermore the frame and its accessories shall not be wider than the sloping surface of the rim. The height of the bottom of the wheelchair frame from the ground shall not exceed 50 cm.(4) No part of the wheelchair shall project backwards from the vertical plane connecting the rearmost of the rear wheels.(5) The diameters of the rear and front wheels, including the fully inflated tyres, must not exceed 70 cm and 50 cm respectively.(6) Each large wheel may have one flat circular push rim. However, for competitors who operate their wheelchair with one arm, this rule may be modified according to the results of the classification made at the time of competitor registration and the decision of the Technical Delegate.(7) Any mechanical gear or lever that propels the wheelchair must not be used.(8) The use of mirrors is prohibited in competition.(9) Mechanical manoeuvring devices are only permitted which are operated by the arm.(10) Competitors must be able to move the front wheels manually from side to side.(11) The use of fairings or the use of wheelchairs or similar devices specifically designed to improve aerodynamic capacity is prohibited.(12) Wheelchairs will be measured at the muster station. Once a wheelchair has been inspected, it may be re-inspected by competition officials before or after the start of the competition.(13) It is the competitor's responsibility to follow all the aforementioned rules and no competition should be delayed to allow the competitor to adjust his wheelchair.17. Athlete Bibs (formerly Number Cards)Athlete bibs must be worn as distributed and may not be cut, folded, or obscured in any way. However, holes may be punched in the bibs to allow for ventilation, avoiding the area of letters and numbers.18. Regarding Photography Equipment: Competitors are prohibited from bringing small cameras, mobile phones, or other devices capable of taking photographs (whether still or video) into the competition area. The prohibited area refers to the area from the warm-up area to the finish area, unless permission is obtained from the Technical Director.19. The following are permitted and are not considered assistance:All personal protective equipment for protective and/or medical purposes (bandages, adhesive plasters, belts, supports, cooling wristbands, portable oxygen tanks, and other breathing apparatus, provided that prior approval from a race official is obtained for personal protective equipment for medical purposes)Heart rate monitors, speed, distance, stride sensors, and other similar devices carried or worn by the athlete, provided that they cannot be used to communicate with others. 1. This event will be held in compliance with the most up to date World Para Athletics Rules and Regulations. 2. All participating athletes must follow the World Para Athletics Rules andRegulations, such as, rules regarding advertising and displays on clothes and wheelchairs during competition. 3. Athlete must follow the designated lanes in the course from start to finish. 4. Drafting behind an athlete from another Sports Class or sex is prohibited. Drafting behind motorized vehicles or bicycle is also prohibited. 5. Any athletes who intentionally interfere with, or touch other athletes during the race will be disqualified. 6. Competitors must wear a helmet. The helmet must have a hard outer shell, be protective and meet international safety standards (e.g. Snell Standard b-84/90/95, BSI 6863, EN 1078). 7. Only the race officials are permitted to assist an athlete in case of crash or tumble during the race. Athlete will be disqualified if he/she is assisted in any manner influential to the better result. 8. As a general rule, no support will be provided for repairs to wheelchairs during the competition. Nor will equipment necessary for repairs be provided or loaned. 9. A competitor who is ordered to stop by the Chief Referee or a doctor must immediately stop the competition.10. Athlete must obey the orders of the race officials and police officers.11. The lower extremities (legs and feet), or any relevant prosthesis, are not permitted to touch the ground.12. Classification shall be according to the World Para Athletics Classification Rules and Regulations.13. The competition is subject to doping control under the Japan Anti-Doping Code. For more information on the Japan Anti-Doping Code and doping tests, please refer to the Japan Anti-Doping Agency website(http://www.playtruejapan.org).14. Athlete must reach the following checkpoints within the given time: 4.9km checkpoint 20 min 00 sec 9.2km checkpoint 35 min 00 sec*20.9km checkpoint 1 hour 05 min 00 sec29.2km checkpoint 1 hour 35 min 00 secFinish 2 hour 10 min 00 sec*Wheelchair 10.7km race time limit. Wheelchair athletes are also not allowed tocontinue the race beyond this time.15. Fluid aid stations will be provided in the vicinity of following distance:5km, 7km, 10km, 12km, 15km, 17km, 20km, 22km, 25km, 27km, 30km,32km, 35km, 38km, 40km.16. Regulations for wheelchairs are as follows:(1) The wheelchair consists of two large wheels and one small wheel; the small wheel must be at the front of the wheelchair.
