The Tokyo Marathon 2017 Media Tour of the runner's registration and the EXPO started at 9AM on Thursday February 23, just before the opening ceremony of the EXPO. Over 20 media attended approximately one hour tour at the Big Sight.

The tour started with the explanation of the flow of the runner check-in process - from checking the photo ID to obtaining bib-number/security wristband/timing chip and finally receiving an EXPO Bags including a race T-shirt. Heightened security system including newly introduced Security Wristband was explained. The runners must wear the security wristband at the time of check-in at the Big Sight, and they must keep it on until the race is finished on Sunday. More security guards, security guards with camera and security monitor cameras will be placed for the marathon especially near the finish line.

Next the tour went through the Marathon Museum, and then walk along the booths of official partners such as Tokyo Metro. Tokyo Marathon Official Shop, where runners can buy official Marathon goods, is located after the series of booths by the Official Partners.

Next, Tokyo Marathon Charity Run as well as Volunteer system was explained. While the charity runners' quota did not fill up until November in the previous years, this year's quota was filled up in September. Thus one may say that Tokyo Marathon charity runners program has finally reached the level of the major marathons abroad.

Finally, the tour went down the escalator to the first floor, where Asics shoes/gears are displayed for sale. There are also various booths of the cities where the marathon course winds through, and across them the official media set up their booths. Further down the aisle, oversea marathons from Thailand, Stockholm and Berlin has their booth and were handing out their marathon tour brochures. Finally, the tour ends at the section of small "trial booth" for those who set their booth in the Tokyo Marathon EXPO for the first time.
